About us
Electricians first. Solar specialists by choice.
Glow is a Belfast electrical contractor that saw where home energy was going and built for it properly — NICEIC certification, manufacturer accreditations, and an in-house team covering design, installation and aftercare.
The story, without the violin music.
Matthew Lynes started in 2005 and built the trade over nearly two decades in London — commercial sites, domestic work, and every kind of installation in between. Glow brought that experience home to Belfast, and is scaling it across Northern Ireland.
We built the business on the unglamorous stuff done well: certificates, consumer units, fault-finding, tidy first-fix. That's still who we are. But the most interesting work in the trade now is energy — panels on the roof, a battery in the garage, a charger on the wall, a house that mostly runs itself.
So that's where we've taken the company. Not by hiring a sales team — by putting our electricians through the renewables tickets and doing the same careful work on a different kind of job. The trade taught us respect for the rules. The solar is where the rules meet the future.
Why Glow
A solar company that's actually an electrical contractor.
Plenty of solar firms are sales operations that subcontract the install. We're the opposite — NICEIC-approved electricians who design the system, put it on your roof, wire it, certify it and answer the phone afterwards.
What we stand on
Checked by the people whose job is checking.
NICEIC Approved Contractor
Our electrical work is assessed by the industry's main regulatory body. Every job is tested and certificated to BS 7671 — the standard that matters.
OZEV-approved installer
Approved for the government's EV chargepoint schemes — which also means we can claim the grant for you where you're eligible.
RECC registered
Signed up to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code — consumer protection standards for how renewable systems are sold, installed and guaranteed.

The difference
The person who quotes it is the person who wires it.
- No sales floor. You deal directly with the electricians doing the work, start to finish.
- Certified, not just fitted. NICEIC Approved Contractor — every job tested and certificated to BS 7671.
- Honest numbers. If solar doesn't stack up for your roof and usage, we'll say so and save you the money.
- Aftercare that answers. A direct line to the team that installed your system — monitoring, warranty and support handled in-house.
We're electricians first. Solar is electrical work — treat it that way and the system lasts as long as the warranty says it should.
