Battery storage — NI

Store it when it's cheap. Use it when it's not.

A battery turns your solar surplus — or cheap overnight electricity — into power you use at peak rates. We install Hinen, Sigenergy and EcoFlow systems across Northern Ireland, all 0% VAT.

Why a battery

Three ways a battery earns its keep.

A normal day at home: the roof peaks at lunchtime, the house peaks at teatime. A battery is what connects the two.

  1. Self-use beats export

    Keep your solar

Without storage, your surplus is exported for pence while you buy evening power at full rate. A battery keeps the difference in your pocket.

  2. Cheap rate in, peak rate out

    Buy cheap, use peak

Low overnight tariffs exist for a reason. Charge the battery while you sleep and run the house on it when rates triple at teatime.

  3. Backup built in

    Ride out power cuts

With a backup-capable system, the kettle still boils when the street goes dark.

Sizing it right

Bigger isn't better. Right is better.

An oversized battery wastes capital sitting half-charged; an undersized one leaves you buying peak electricity anyway. We size from your actual usage pattern — smart meter data if you have it, a proper conversation if you don't. Evening load, EV, heat pump plans, tariff options: it all goes into the sizing.

  • Modular platforms. Start sensible, add capacity later if your usage grows.
  • Retrofit friendly. Already have panels? We add storage to existing arrays.
  • 0% VAT. Battery storage currently qualifies as an energy-saving material.

Straight answers

Battery questions, answered honestly.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?

Yes. We retrofit batteries to existing arrays either AC-coupled alongside your current inverter, or by swapping to a hybrid inverter — the survey tells us which makes better sense for your setup.

How long do home batteries last?

The systems we install carry 10 to 15 year warranties, and all use LiFePO₄ chemistry — the long-life, stable battery type. Realistically you're buying a system designed to outlast its payback period several times over.

Where does the battery go?

Usually a garage, utility room or well-ventilated storage space near your consumer unit. They're wall or floor mounted, quiet, and sized like a small radiator to a tall fridge depending on capacity.

Is a battery worth it without solar?

Often, yes. On the right tariff a battery charges cheap overnight and runs the house at peak rates. If you have an EV tariff already, the numbers usually get better again. We'll model it before you buy.
