Some renters, flat owners, landlords and workplaces qualify for support. An on-street application requires an approved permanent pavement crossing. Check the NI EV charger grant rules before booking.

Straight answers

EV charging questions, answered honestly.

Ask us a question
How long does an EV charger installation take?

Usually half a day. That includes mounting the unit, running the circuit, protective devices, testing, certification and getting the app set up on your phone before we leave.

Tethered or untethered — which should I get?

Tethered (cable attached) is more convenient day to day. Untethered (socket only) looks tidier and works with any cable. If more than one car will use it, untethered usually wins.

Can my house supply handle a 7kW charger?

We check your supply and main fuse as part of the survey and notify NIE Networks where required. Modern chargers also load-balance, throttling briefly when the rest of the house is working hard.

Is there a grant for EV chargers?

There are separate schemes for eligible renters, flat owners, residential landlords and workplaces. A homeowner with a private driveway does not qualify through the renters and flat owners scheme. On-street applications require the relevant permissions and a permanent pavement crossing. Read our Northern Ireland EV grant guide; we help check eligibility and complete the installer claim where applicable.

What do you check before quoting for an EV charger?

We assess your supply, parking position, cable route and the charger you want. Tell us about your car, any solar or battery system and who else will use the charger. The written quote sets out the installation and any extra work needed. Request your EV charger survey.
