We are a small electrical installation team looking to grow our solar, battery storage and EV charging side of the business. We need a capable electrician who enjoys practical installation work, takes pride in a neat finish and can take responsibility for a job on site.
This is a full-time role, with PAYE or self-employed CIS arrangements available. Our work takes us to different sites across Northern Ireland, so regular travel is part of the job. A fuel card is provided for work travel. Having your own van would be a positive, although it is not essential and transport can be discussed.
What your working week will involve
The main focus is the electrical installation and commissioning of solar PV, home battery systems and EV charge points. You will be fitting inverters and batteries, running AC and DC cabling, installing protection and isolators, and completing the testing and setup needed to hand over a working system to the customer.
Jobs vary in size and location. Some days you will be working alongside the team; on others you will need to organise your own work, check materials and make sensible decisions on site. There will also be occasional consumer unit upgrades, repairs and other electrical work.
- Assess the existing electrical supply and plan a safe, practical installation.
- Fit and connect solar, battery and charging equipment to manufacturer instructions and current wiring regulations.
- Test and commission the installation, including monitoring and app setup.
- Record test results, complete the required paperwork and take clear job photos.
- Explain the equipment to customers and leave the site clean and tidy.
- Communicate clearly with the team about progress, materials and any issues.
The person we need
You should be a qualified electrician with solid installation experience, good fault-finding skills and the confidence to work without constant supervision. Reliability, care for the customer’s property and a willingness to learn new equipment matter to us.
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or an equivalent qualification.
- 18th Edition / BS 7671 qualification.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Northern Ireland.
- Comfortable working both independently and within a small team.
- Experience in solar PV, batteries or EV charging is useful, but we can provide product training for someone with a good electrical background.
- 2391 Inspection & Testing is an advantage, rather than a requirement.
