Electrical services — Belfast & NI
Tripping circuits, dead sockets, mystery smells — found and fixed.
Electrical faults rarely announce themselves politely. We diagnose methodically with proper test equipment — no guesswork — and fix the cause once, not the symptom twice.

How we work
Method beats guesswork.
A tripping RCD has a cause: moisture in a fitting, a damaged cable, a failing appliance, an overloaded circuit. We isolate it by testing — insulation resistance, continuity, the readings that point to the culprit — rather than swapping parts and hoping. You get told what we found, what it needs, and what it costs before anything is replaced.
- Tripping breakers and RCDs — found by elimination and measurement, not luck.
- Dead sockets and circuits — traced to the break, junction or device at fault.
- Flickering lights and hot spots — loose terminations found before they become fire risks.
- Honest advice — if an appliance is the culprit, we say so — no work invented.
What you get
When to call — sooner, not later.
It keeps tripping
An RCD that trips repeatedly is doing its job — protecting you from a fault that's still there. Resetting it isn't a repair.
Burning smells or scorching
A fishy or burning smell near sockets or the board means overheating. Switch off at the board and ring us — that one's urgent.
Buzzing, flickering, warm switches
Small symptoms with a common cause: loose connections. Cheap to fix early, expensive to ignore.
Know the symptoms
Faults announce themselves. Listen early.
The common ones we're called to across Belfast — and what they usually turn out to be.
The RCD keeps tripping
Usually one appliance or one circuit leaking to earth — kettles, immersion heaters and outdoor sockets are the usual suspects. We isolate circuit by circuit until the culprit is cornered, then fix or advise.
Dead sockets in one room
Often a failed connection at one point on the ring — heat and time loosen terminals. Finding it is methodical instrument work, not wall-opening guesswork.
Flickering or dimming lights
Loose neutrals, failing switches or an overloaded circuit. Occasionally a supply-side issue that's NIE Networks' problem, not yours — we'll tell you which before anything is spent.
Burning smell or warm sockets
Stop using the circuit and ring us now — 028 9691 8755. Overheating accessories are the fault type that genuinely can't wait for a convenient slot.
The method
Test. Isolate. Prove it. Fix it.
Fault-finding is a process, not a poke about: insulation resistance tests to find leaking circuits, loop impedance to find high-resistance joints, thermal checks on boards under load. When the fault's found we show you the readings, price the repair, fix it and retest. You get a certificate for any remedial wiring — and the fault doesn't come back next winter.
- Diagnostic visit at a fixed price, agreed before we arrive
- Instrument-led — the fault is proven, not presumed
- Repairs certificated to BS 7671
- Same-day response for dangerous faults
Straight answers
Fault questions, answered honestly.
My RCD keeps tripping — what should I do?
Unplug appliances one at a time to see if one is the cause. If it still trips with everything unplugged, the fault is in the installation — stop resetting it and book a fault visit. The RCD is protecting you.
How much does fault finding cost?
We charge for the diagnostic visit and quote any repair before doing it — so you always know where you stand. Simple faults are often found and fixed in the same visit.
Is a burning smell an emergency?
Treat it as one. Switch the affected circuit off at the board — or the whole board if you're unsure — and call us. Overheating connections are how electrical fires start.
Stop resetting it. Get it fixed.
Tell us the symptoms and we'll bring the right test gear first visit.
